Locked out and can't release

Work through these in order — only the last one requires a restart.

01
RETRY COMBO
Enter your unlock combo slowly, one key at a time. Held modifiers are counted only once.
02
TOUCH ID
If enabled, rest your finger on the sensor — it overrides the combo.
03
ACCOUNT PASSWORD
Type your macOS account password — always accepted as a fallback release.
04
EMERGENCY UNLOCK
If you configured an emergency-unlock gesture in Settings, hold that modifier-key combo instead of your primary one. If Touch ID or password confirmation is enabled, you'll still need to pass that check afterward — the gesture replaces the combo, not the authentication step.
05
LAST RESORT
Hold the power button to restart. ClickLock does not lock input across reboots.

Common questions

Does ClickLock keep my Mac awake while locked?+
Yes. ClickLock holds a wake assertion for the duration of the lock, so the display stays on and the Mac won't sleep or sign out while input is frozen.
Which permissions does it need, and why?+
Accessibility and Input Monitoring, granted in System Settings → Privacy & Security. They're what allow the app to intercept keyboard and pointer events locally. Nothing is logged or sent anywhere.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?+
Yes — install it on any Mac signed into your own Apple ID, under Apple's standard App Store licensing terms.
Is there a subscription?+
No. ClickLock is a one-time purchase through the Mac App Store, with no accounts and no recurring charges.
How do I fully remove it?+
Delete the app. Its only stored data is a UserDefaults preferences entry, which goes with it. Revoke the Accessibility and Input Monitoring permissions in System Settings if you'd like to tidy up.

Reporting a bug

There's no crash reporting in the app, so a bug only reaches us if you send it. Include these four lines and we can usually reproduce it on the first try.

macOS   14.5 (Apple Silicon)
ClickLock   1.2.2
Locked   keyboard + trackpad, Touch ID release
